C.P.R @ Cardiopulmonary resuscitation

TASEK GELUGOR - Orang ramai yang sedang berjoging di kawasan rekreasi Taman Padang Cempedak di sini pada jam 8.20 pagi semalam gempar apabila seorang lelaki yang turut sama menyertai larian di situ tiba-tiba rebah.

Biarpun mangsa, Khamarudin Abd Jafaar, 52, cuba diberikan bantuan oleh orang ramai dan kakitangan Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam Malaysia (JPAM), namun dia gagal diselamatkan sebaliknya disahkan meninggal dunia kemudiannya.

Ketua Polis Daerah Seberang Perai Utara, Asisten Komisioner Abdul Rahman Ibrahim berkata, lelaki berasal dari Kampung Bendahara Baru, Batu Caves Selangor, itu disahkan meninggal dunia sebaik rebah ketika berjoging di kawasan berkenaan.

“Hasil pemeriksaan oleh kakitangan Hospital Kepala Batas yang dihubungi sejurus kejadian itu mendapati mangsa yang tinggal menyewa bersama keluarganya di kawasan berdekatan meninggal kerana serangan jantung.

“Selepas melakukan siasatan kita mengklasifikasikan kes ini sebagai kematian mengejut,” katanya.

Mayat Khamarudin kemudiannya dihantar ke Unit Forensik Hospital Kepala Batas sebelum dituntut keluarganya sejurus selepas bedah siasat selesai dilakukan.

Seorang saksi yang enggan dikenali berkata, mangsa sejak sebulan lalu sering dilihat berjoging di kawasan berkenaan setiap pagi.

Menurutnya, awal pagi semalam, mangsa dilihat tidak secergas hari-hari biasa tetapi tetap meneruskan aktiviti larianbersama orang ramai di situ sebelum rebah dan meninggal kemudiannya

Mungkin, mereka ini masih hidup (dengan izin Allah jua) hingga hari ini jika ketika serangan jantung, ada bantuan CPR! Wallaahu wa'alam.  Ajal maut di tangan Allah, manusia sekadar berusaha dan bertawakkal.

Kita selalu menonton di dalam t.v. atau video bagaimana orang biasa membantu sahabat atau kenalannya yang kena serangan jantung dengan teknik CPR. Adalah wajar kita mempelajari atau sekurang2nya ambil tahu kaedah CPR ini kerana tindakan kita mungkin dapat menyelamatkan satu nyawa. Perlu diingat, orang yang diserang penyakit jantung cuma memiliki masa beberapa saat mungkin minit sebelum jantungnya kekal mati tidak berfungsi.


If you were with someone who had a heart attack or almost drowned, would you know what to do? When blood flow or breathing stops, seconds count. Permanent brain damage or death can happen quickly. If you know how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), you could save a life. CPR is an emergency procedure for a person whose heart has stopped or is no longer breathing. CPR can maintain circulation and breathing until emergency medical help arrives.
Even if you haven't had training, you can do "hands-only" CPR for a person whose heart has stopped beating. "Hands-only" CPR uses chest compressions to keep blood circulating until emergency help arrives. If you've had training, you can use chest compressions and rescue breathing. Rescue breathing helps get oxygen to the lungs for a person who has stopped breathing. To keep your skills up, you should repeat the training every two years.

1. Check for responsiveness. Shake or tap the person gently. See if the person moves or makes a noise. Shout, "Are you OK?"
2. Call 911 if there is no response. Shout for help and send someone to call 911. If you are alone, call 911 and retrieve an automated external defibrillator (AED) if one is available, even if you have to leave the person.
3. Carefully place the person on their back. If there is a chance the person has a spinal injury, two people should move the person to prevent the head and neck from twisting.


4. Perform chest compressions:
  • Place the heel of one hand on the breastbone – just below the nipples.
  • Place the heel of your other hand on top of the first hand.
  • Position your body directly over your hands.
  • Give 30 chest compressions. These compressions should be FAST and hard. Press down about 2 inches into the chest. Each time, let the chest rise completely. Count the 30 compressions quickly: "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24,25,26,27,28,29,30, off."





5. Open the airway. Lift up the chin with 2 fingers. At the same time, push down on the forehead with the other hand.
6. Look, listen, and feel for breathing. Place your ear close to the person’s mouth and nose. Watch for chest movement. Feel for breath on your cheek.

7. If the person is not breathing or has trouble breathing:
  • Cover the person’s mouth tightly with your mouth.
  • Pinch the nose closed.
  • Keep the chin lifted and head tilted.
  • Give 2 breaths. Each breath should take about a second and make the chest rise.
8. Continue CPR (30 chest compressions followed by 2 breaths, then repeat) until the person recovers or help arrives. If an AED for adults is available, use it as soon as possible.
